The aftermath of the lockdown and closure of schools on private school teachers is disheartening as more and more teachers in private schools are feeling the impact of the lockdown.

Many of these teachers whose contribution towards building a literate generation are among the most hit in this COVID-19 period.

In a related development, owners of basic and second cycle private schools across Ghana are requesting for a suspension of their quota of SSNIT contributions for their employees’ social security following the closure of schools on the back of coronavirus outbreak in the country.

In their current circumstance, Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) said their members are not only “unable to pay their employees’ salaries, many cannot make statutory payments in respect of SSNIT”.

This is because private schools depend on fees which parents cannot pay as their wards are at home.

According to Professor Prempeh, the policy of paying Allowance to Teacher and Nursing Trainees so as to attract more students to the teaching profession is no longer tenable. He is therefore calling on the Education Ministry, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, GTEC and other state agencies to re-focus and re-direct financial allocations towards providing infrastructure to the Colleges of Education. Professor Emmanuel Kwasi Prempeh was contributing to a media discussion on the delay in releasing funds for the payment of allowances to Teachers and Nursing Trainees. Meanwhile, Teacher And Nursing Trainees Allowance has been in arrears for six months now with some trainees speculating cancelation of same, altogether.

NPP Boycotts TV3 Morning Show ( NewDay)

The National Communication Bureau of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) wishes to inform all its Communicators, Media Monitors, and Officials that the Party has boycotted TV3 morning Show ( NewDay) effectively 3rd January 2022.   The reason for this boycott has to do with the unreasonable decision of the Producers and Host of the program Johnny who always interrupt npp communicators when they  are showcasing the projects the government has done.  All efforts to get the Producers and Host of the program to give us a fair treatment on the show over the 6 months, including a complaint to the Management of the station for an amicable resolution of this matter, have proven futile, as the party continues to be twith the witthe  utmost contempt.
