Man Drowns In River Akora At Gomoa Ekwamkrom

The body of a 30-year-old man only identified as Joe, has been found dead after he drowned in the River Akora at Gomoa Ekwamkrom in the Central Region. Sources say the deceased and his girlfriend went to the riverside to swim on Friday, but Joe could not come out of the water. The girlfriend informed the community members, who began a search but that yielded no results. According to police sources, Nananom [Traditional leaders] and residents of Gomoa Ekwamkrom, including divers, made every effort to find the deceased. However, these efforts were unsuccessful until fetish priests performed rituals today, Monday, July 8. Following the ritual performance, the body of the deceased was found in Gomoa Brofoyedu, a community near Gomoa Ekwamkrom. The body of Joe has been conveyed by community members to Agona Swedru Hospital Mortuary for preservation, while the police have commenced investigations.

3 NPP Members Arrested For Disrupting Ongoing Limited Voter Registration At Tepa

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three persons for engaging in a fight and causing a temporary disruption of the ongoing limited voter registration exercise at the Tepa Electoral Commission office in the Ashanti Region. The three suspects, Abass Abukari, George Vinor and Abdul Karim, were arrested on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, and are currently in Police custody assisting with the investigation. In a brief statement from the Police, it noted calm has since been restored as the registration exercise continues. The 2024 limited voter registration commenced on Tuesday, May 7 and is expected to last for 21 days. The Commission is hoping to register about 623,000 new registrants. Despite a few technical challenges on Tuesday, the EC said it has resolved all challenges and the process is running smoothly across all 268 district offices of the EC.

Two Dead In Motor Accident At Wassa Amenfi.

Two persons who onboard a motorbike in Wassa Amenfi East have died in a motor accident around 4:30pm on Sunday. The accident which occured at Wassa Ntwentwena, a section of Dunkwa to Bogoso highways was as a results of wrong overtaking. The deceased in their 40's are identified as Kofi Mensah and Kwame Ogange. The two heading from Wassa Domeabra towards Wassa Nkonya involved in head-on collision with a motorbike after the overtaking foiled. As a results, Kofi Mensah and Kwame Ogange fell in the middle of the road and got smashed in the head by incoming passenger vehicle. The other passengers on the motorbike which also involved in the accident sustained injuries. The corpse has since been deposited in a hospital for autopsy and preservation.
